Next Srùbag No. 49 – Cèilidh Seinn na Gàidhlig – Gaelic Song Ceilidh – Friday 11 October 2024 7.30-9.30pm UK / Ireland time.
We are delighted to invite you to our next and 48th Srùbag. Our special Guest is Barra Ó Scannláin from Donegal, who will sing songs in Irish. As well, we will have the usual participatory singaround – songs in Scottish and Irish Gaelic, Welsh and Breton please! All are welcome to join us to sing a song or to listen!
Barra Ó Scannláin is from East Donegal and has been singing sean-nós songs in Irish since happening upon a singing group while working in Club Chonradh na Gaeilge during his university years. He has taught the Irish language in Canada, the US, France, and taught summer courses at Oideas Gael in Gleann Cholm Cille for several years before moving to Brussels in 2021. Barra is currently involved in running a monthly ‘seisiún amhránaíochta’ (Irish language singing session) in Brussels with fellow singer Claire Nic Ruairí.
